The Hendon Horticultural Society & Gardening Club is a friendly local group, holding monthly meetings on second Wednesdays, (not Jul/Aug). We meet at Christ Church Hall, 7pm, corner of Brent Street/Heriot Road, Hendon NW4. We have a full progamme of speakers and events. (Available on request) We are now planning for 2010. New members & visitors always welcome. (Visitors pay Ł2 - refundable on becomong a member) At present we hold an Annual Flower Show in July, one or two coach outings per year and a Christmas Lunch in December.
This summer we visited Waterperry Gardens near Oxford. Founded by Beatrix Havergal more than seventy years ago as a School of Horticulture for Ladies, the gardens at Waterperry have evolved into an oasis of calm and beauty in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. This years Summer Flower Show will be held at the Hendon Baptist Church - First Ave & Finchley Lane London NW4 at 2pm on Saturday July 17th. March 10th – Talk by Philip Coleman of Finchley Nurseries Wed. April 14th - Floral Cake decorating demonstration by Indra Gura Wed. May 12th - Illustrated talk by Denis Dyke- “Europe” Wed. June 9th – Demonstration by Alina Boca of “Blue Valley” florists Wed. September 8th – Illustrated talk by Jim Buttress – famous judge of “Britain in Bloom” Wed. October 13th – Demonstration of seasonal flower arranging by Minou Alikhani
Hendon Horticultural Society was formed in 1902 from the "All Souls Allottees Society" whose members were allotment holders in Brampton Grove NW4.
